HB 1728 -- Paper Ballots at Elections

Sponsor:  Zimmerman

This bill changes the laws regarding the use of paper ballots at
elections.  In its main provisions, the bill:

(1)  Requires every individual to be offered the opportunity to
cast a paper ballot in state and federal elections;

(2)  Requires paper ballots to be counted and treated as a
regular ballot;

(3)  Requires election authorities to post a notice printed by
the Secretary of State of the right to use paper ballots; and

(4)  Requires the cost incurred by an election authority for
printing a sufficient number of ballots to meet the requirements
of the bill to be paid by the state.
