HB 1804 -- Ignition Interlock Devices Sponsor: Kirkton This bill changes the laws regarding ignition interlock devices. In its main provisions, the bill: (1) Specifies that any person who has completed a period of restricted driving privilege as a result of certain alcohol-related traffic offenses must file proof with the Director of the Department of Revenue that any motor vehicle operated by the person is equipped with a functioning, certified ignition interlock device before the person's license will be reinstated; (2) Prohibits a person with a suspended driver's license from being issued a restricted driving privilege until he or she has completed a 30-day suspension and has filed proof with the department that any motor vehicle operated by him or her is equipped with a functioning, certified ignition interlock device; and (3) Requires a court to prohibit any person who is found guilty of or pleads guilty to a first intoxication-related traffic offense from operating a motor vehicle unless it is equipped with a functioning, certified ignition interlock device for at least six months from the date of reinstatement of the person's driver's license.Copyright (c) Missouri House of Representatives
