HB 1857 -- Prevention of Identity Theft

Sponsor:  Grill

This bill requires any entity that conducts business in the state
or maintains or possesses personal information of Missouri
residents to take all reasonable measures to protect against the
unauthorized access to or use of the information in connection
with or after its disposal.  Any person or entity who violates
this provision may be subject to a civil penalty of up to $3,000,
and any individual aggrieved by a violation may bring a civil
action to enjoin further violations and to recover actual
damages, costs, and reasonable attorney fees.
