HB 2257 -- Regulation of Fireworks Sponsor: Bruns This bill changes the laws regarding the regulation of fireworks. In its main provisions, the bill: (1) Specifies that the State Fire Marshal has the authority to issue a permit to any person who manufactures, ships, or sells fireworks; (2) Prohibits the fire marshal from issuing a permit to anyone who fails to provide proof of liability insurance or to anyone who has been convicted of, pled guilty to, or been found guilty of any class A or B felony or any class C or D felony within 10 years prior to the application for a permit; (3) Allows the fire marshal to examine the records of fireworks sales to assure compliance with the regulations on manufacturers, distributors, wholesalers, and jobbers selling consumer fireworks to seasonal retailers; and (4) Specifies that ground salutes, commonly known as cherry bombs, M-80's, M-100's, and M-1,000's, which exceed the limits set for consumer fireworks, display fireworks, or proximate fireworks for explosive composition are prohibited in Missouri for consumer use.Copyright (c) Missouri House of Representatives
