HB 2333 -- High School Dropout Prevention Sponsor: Holsman Beginning in school year 2011-2012, this bill requires a student who is older than the district's compulsory school age and who wants to drop out of high school to attend a dropout prevention seminar. School districts must offer the seminars based on the requirements of the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Seminars must be at least four hours in duration, may include talks by specified persons such as employers and former dropouts, and must be held outside regular school hours. Districts may charge an enrollment fee of up to $45, which will be refunded if the student subsequently graduates from the school at which he or she attends the seminar.
