HB 2387 -- Commission on State Expenditures Sponsor: Smith (150) This bill establishes the Commission on State Expenditures to review and make recommendations concerning state expenditures proposed for appropriation in the state budget, including identifying unnecessary or excessive expenditures and making recommendations to reduce or eliminate them. The commission will consist of seven Missouri residents of which three will be appointed by the President Pro Tem of the Senate; three appointed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives; and one with a doctorate in economics, finance, or a related field, appointed jointly by the President Pro Tem and Speaker. Beginning February 1, 2011, the members of the commission will each serve a two-year term without compensation but may be reimbursed for actual and necessary expenses. Upon request of the commission, the Office of Administration will provide staff to assist the commission in its duties. Upon completion of the required analysis, the commission must compile a report by February 1, 2012, and every year thereafter, to the Governor, President Pro Tem of the Senate, and Speaker of the House of Representatives entitled Recommendations on Missouri Expenditures.Copyright (c) Missouri House of Representatives
