Summary of the Introduced Bill

HB 2475 -- Emergency Communications System Sales Tax

Sponsor: Diehl

This bill authorizes St. Louis County to impose, upon voter
approval, a sales tax of up to one-tenth of 1% on all retail
sales, except sales of food, to establish, operate, and maintain
an emergency communications system. The definition of "emergency
communications system" is expanded to include radio, emergency
alert, and enhanced 911 systems.

The Director of the Department of Revenue will collect and
deposit the sales tax revenue, less a 1% collection fee, into the
newly created County Emergency Communications Sales Tax Fund.
The department director will disburse the funds monthly to the
appropriate county.
