Biography:
Representative John J. Diehl, Jr., a Republican, represents part of St. Louis County (District 89) in the Missouri House of Representatives. The municipalities in his district include all or parts of Ballwin, Chesterfield, Country Life Acres, Crystal Lake Park, Des Peres, Frontenac, Huntleigh, Kirkwood, Ladue, Manchester, and Town and Country. He has served as Chairman of the House Congressional Redistricting Committee (2011), the House Rules Committee (2011-2012) and is currently the House Majority Floor Leader.

In addition to his legislative duties, Rep. Diehl is a partner at Armstrong Teasdale, LLP in the firm’s Real Estate / Public Law and Finance Practice Group. He has practiced law in St. Louis since 1991.

Rep. Diehl was appointed by Governor Matt Blunt as the Chairman of the St. Louis County Board of Election Commissioners in 2005, a position he held until 2008. From 2003-2005, he served as an Alderman for the city of Town and Country. Rep. Diehl was also named the 2006 Business Person of the Year by the Town and Country / Frontenac Chamber of Commerce.

Diehl is, or has been, a member of the following organizations: Town and Country/Frontenac Chamber of Commerce, Executive Committee 2004-2007; Town and Country Police Commission, chairman; Chairman of Town and Country Conservation Commission; Town and Country Architectural Review Board; chairman, Town and Country Longview House Renovation Committee; Governor's Advisory Council on DWI; Town and Country ombudsman to the West County EMS and Fire Protection District; Missouri Bar; St. Louis County Bar Association; The Association of Trial Lawyers of America; and the International Association of Clerks, Recorders, Election Officials and Treasurers Election Center

A 1983 graduate of De Smet Jesuit High School, Rep. Diehl received a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1987 and received his Juris Doctorate in 1991 from St. Louis University.

Born August 28, 1965 in St. Louis, Rep. Diehl is a lifelong resident of West St. Louis County. He currently resides in Town and Country with his wife, and their three sons.
