Representative Shelley Keeney

Representative
Shelley Keeney

District 156

Republican
Majority Caucus Chair

Biography:
Representative Shelley Keeney, a Republican, represents Bollinger, Madison and the southern part of Perry Counties (District 145) in the Missouri House of Representatives.

After graduating from Advance High School, Shelley attended Southeast Missouri State University where she majored in Elementary Education with an emphasis in math. During her college years, Shelley was an active volunteer for several elected officials and candidates across Southeast Missouri. She gained valuable experience in local grass-roots politics. Shelley learned from these elected officials that being a leader and representing the people required hard work and an ability to listen to their concerns. Helping all citizens regardless of their party or status is a priority to Representative Keeney. She believes the issues affecting our citizens are bigger than any political party.

After college, Shelley became an elementary teacher with the Leopold School District. She began pursuing her master’s degree in Education Administration through William Woods University and graduated with that degree in 2004. Her time teaching showed Shelley how important a good education is and the problems our schools face with educating kids today.

Upon leaving Leopold, Keeney took a full-time position as the district assistant for House Speaker Rod Jetton and State Senator Jason Crowell. Shelley learned a great deal about Missouri government and the legislative process during her time as district assistant.

Born in Cape Girardeau, Rep. Keeney currently lives in Marble Hill where she attends Harmony Congregational Methodist Church. She is a member of the following organizations: Chamber of Commerce, Marble Hill Study Club-GFWC, Farm Bureau, National Rifle Association, Women in the Outdoors and National Wild Turkey Federation.
