Biography:
Rep. Clem Smith, a Democrat, represents parts of north and mid St. Louis County (District 71) in the Missouri House of Representatives. He was elected to his first two-year term in November 2010.

Rep. Smith serves as Deputy Minority Whip, Treasurer of the Missouri Legislative Black Caucus, and Sergeant at Arms of the Labor Caucus.

In addition to his legislative duties, Rep. Smith is employed as an Aircraft Assembly Mechanic for The Boeing Company. He previously worked for Chrysler LLC., and served as a Union Representative for the United Autoworker (UAW) Local 136. He has more than 14 years experience working in manufacturing.

Rep. Smith is a proud member of the International Association of Machinist District 837, Multiple Sclerosis Society, CBTU-St. Louis, the NAACP, and North County Labor. He also serves as an advisory board member for the Missouri Vocational Enterprise Program.

Rep. Smith is a 1995 graduate of Clayton High School in St. Louis County, and received his bachelor’s degree from Columbia College.

Born April 13, 1977 in St. Louis City, Rep. Smith currently resides in Velda Village Hills.
