Biography:
Rep. Chris Molendorp, Republican, represents parts of Kansas City, Cass County and Bates County (District 56) in the Missouri House of Representatives.
In addition to his legislative duties, Rep. Molendorp is a second generation insurance agent. The Molendorp Insurance Agency, Inc. belongs to the National Federation of Independent Business and the Raymore Chamber of Commerce.
Prior to his election as State Representative in 2008, Representative Molendorp served the community in various capacities including: Board of Directors, Hope Haven, 2006-2007; Board of Directors, Research Belton Hospital, 2004-2005; Past President, 2004 and 15 year member, Belton Chamber of Commerce; Past President and member, Bel-Ray Sunrise Lions Club; Committee Member, Boy Scout Troop 510 and Cass County Republican Party Chairman, 2000-2004.
He is a member of the Jefferson Club, the University of Missouri Alumni Association, The Tribe of Mic-O-Say, and The Friends of the NRA, The NRA and the Missouri State Historical Society. An Eagle Scout, Rep. Molendorp was honored by Kansas City’s Ingram’s Magazine in 2003 as one of the Kansas City area’s top 40 business leaders under the age of 40.
He has been the recipient of the following legislative awards: Missouri Association of Realtors; Design Build Institute Leadership Award, 2009; Missouri Parks and Recreation Public Official Achievement Award, 2011; Missouri Dental Association Legislative Excellence Award, 2010; 2011 Friend of Manufacturing and Industry Award; Missouri Optometric Association Legislator of the Year Award, 2012; and the Midwest Hemophilia 2012 Outstanding Service Award.
A Cass County native, Rep. Molendorp is a 1987 graduate of Raymore-Peculiar High School. He earned his BA degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1991.
A lifelong member of the Belton Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Rep. Molendorp lives in Belton. He is the father of two sons, Tyler and Blake, who attend Belton public schools.
