HB 2151 -- School Funding

Sponsor: Griesheimer

This bill raises sales and use taxes from 4 cents to 5 cents and
directs the extra penny into the school district trust fund. In
the school funding formula, 25% rather than 50% of the amount
received from state sales tax will be deducted from each
district's entitlement as local wealth. Districts are
prohibited from forgoing a rollback on the revenue received from
the additional cent of sales tax. A few technical changes are
made in the funding formula. The bill is subject to approval by
the voters.
