Summary of the House Committee Version of the Bill

SB 216 -- SPECIAL LICENSE PLATE

SPONSOR:  Foster

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Transportation and Motor Vehicles by a vote of 20 to 0.

This bill allows for a special license plate for members of the
Missouri Association of State Troopers Emergency Relief Society.

To obtain the special plates, individuals must obtain an
emblem-use authorization from the Missouri Association of State
Troopers Emergency Relief Society ($25 contribution) and present
it to the Department of Revenue along with a $15 fee in addition
to the registration fee and any other documents required by law.
Revenue from contributions will be used solely for the purposes
of the Missouri Association of State Troopers Emergency Relief
Society.

FISCAL NOTE:  Estimated Net Effect on Highway Fund of a cost of
$5,855 in FY 2004, an income of $625 in FY 2005, and an income of
$625 in FY 2006.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that revenue generated will help
support families of fallen troopers.

Testifying for the bill were Senator Foster; and Missouri State
Troopers Association.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
