Summary of the Committee Version of the Bill

HB 142 -- AUDITORS IN CHARTER COUNTIES

SPONSOR: Gatschenberger

COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Local Government by a vote of 16 to 0.

This bill increases from $250 to $1,000 the minimum original
value of county property that must be inventoried annually by the
auditor in a charter county.

FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds in FY 2012, FY 2013, and
FY 2014.

PROPONENTS: Supporters say that it has been more than 20 years
since the dollar amount of property that the auditor in these
counties is required to inventory has been adjusted and the
adjustment will save them money.

Testifying for the bill was Representative Gatschenberger.

OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.

OTHERS: Others testifying on the bill say that the required
audit amount has been updated in all other classifications of
counties.

Testifying on the bill was St. Charles County Government.
