HB545C-TOURISM COMMUNITY ENHANCEMENT
Summary of the Committee Version of the Bill

HCS HB 545 -- TOURISM COMMUNITY ENHANCEMENT DISTRICT BOARD
MEMBERS

SPONSOR: Ruzicka (Schieber)

COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Tourism and Natural Resources by a vote of 13 to 0.

This substitute exempts the City of Riverside from the provision
which requires a member of the board of directors of a tourism
community enhancement district to be a resident of the district,
own real property within the district, be employed by a business
within the district, or operate a business within the district.

FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds in FY 2012, FY 2013, and
FY 2014.

PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill will help smaller
communities to fill vacancies on their tourism boards. Smaller
communities may not be able to find people with the needed
expertise that meet the current qualifications. The bill will
allow board members to be appointed from outside the district.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Schieber; and David
Blackburn, City of Riverside.

OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
