HB 33 -- Safely Passing Bicycle Riders Sponsor: Sater Currently, a motor vehicle driver who is overtaking a bicycle is required to leave a safe distance when passing the bicycle. This bill requires a driver to pass safety at a distance of not less than three feet. Any driver violating this provision will be guilty of an infraction unless he or she intentionally violates the provision or an accident is involved, in which case, he or she will be guilty of a class C misdemeanor.
