Summary of the Introduced Bill

HB 1271 -- Penalties for Certain Crimes

Sponsor:  Houghton

This bill changes the laws regarding the penalty for certain
crimes.  In its main provisions, the bill:

(1)  Changes the crime of trespass in the first degree from a
class B misdemeanor to a class A misdemeanor;

(2)  Changes the crime of trespass in the second degree from an
infraction to a class B misdemeanor; and

(3)  Changes the crime of false impersonation from a class B
misdemeanor to a class D felony unless the person represents
himself or herself to be a law enforcement officer or public
servant, as defined in these provisions, when it is changed from
a class A misdemeanor to a class C felony.
