HB1926I-SOLAR WATER HEATING SYSTEMS
Summary of the Introduced Bill

HB 1926 -- Solar Water Heating System Incentive Program

Sponsor: Holsman

This bill establishes the Solar Water Heating System Incentive
Program to provide a financial incentive for the purchase and
installation of a solar water heating system in a private
residence. Subject to appropriations, the Department of Natural
Resources must provide the incentives and administer the program.
The bill specifies the requirements that must be met to receive
an incentive and caps the incentive at $500 for each qualifying
solar water heating system. A homeowner is eligible for one $500
incentive per year, and a homebuilder is eligible for up to three
$500 incentives per year. The total amount of incentives cannot
exceed $100,000 in any year; and no more than 40 incentives can
be dispersed in January, March, May, July, and September of each
year.

The provisions of the bill will expire six years from the
effective date.
