TRULY AGREED

HB 1086 -- INSTITUTIONAL VANDALISM

The bill lowers the amount of property damage necessary for
felony institutional vandalism.  Under the bill, class D felony
institutional vandalism requires property damage in excess of
$1,000 and class C requires property damage over $5,000.
Currently, class D felony institutional vandalism requires
property damage more than $2,000 and class C requires property
damage over $10,000.

institutional vandalism.  Under the bill, class D felony
institutional vandalism requires property damage in excess of
$500 and class C requires property damage over $2,500.

property damage more than $2,000 and class C requires property
damage over $10,000.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds.

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee
on  Civil and Criminal Law by a vote of 10 to 0.

The bill lowers the amount of damage necessary for felony
institutional vandalism.  Under the bill, class D felony
institutional vandalism requires property damage in excess of
$500 and class C requires property damage over $2,500.
Currently, class D felony institutional vandalism requires
property damage more than $2,000 and class C requires property
damage over $10,000.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the bill addresses a problem
with vandalism of churches and cemeteries.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
