HB 873 -- Health Care Subsidy Fund
Sponsor: Kreider
This bill requires not for profit hospitals to calculate what
there income tax liability would be if they were subject to the
income tax. If the calculation indicates a tax liability
greater than total expenditures made on uncompensated health
care services provided during that year, the difference must be
paid to the Director of Revenue by the first of May for deposit
in the Health Care Subsidy fund.
The bill creates the Health Care Subsidy Fund which will be
appropriated to subsidize costs for bone marrow transplants and
experimental treatments not covered by health insurance
policies, under a plan developed by the Department of Health and
promulgated by regulation.
Funds in the Health Care Subsidy Fund will not lapse or be
transferred to the general revenue fund at the end of the 2 year
period.
