This bill restricts the Kansas City Board of Adjustment from having the power to alter any ordinance relating to the use of land in Kansas City. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill prevents uses of property that are contrary to the wishes of the City Council. This will allow the City Council to protect the urban core. Proponents also say that this is a function that should not be handled by appointed officials like the Board of Zoning Adjustment. Instead, the power should be in the hands of appointed officials.
