HB 686 -- Veterinary Loan Repayment Program

Sponsor: Hegeman

This bill creates the Large Animal Veterinary Medicine Loan
Repayment Program. The Missouri Veterinary Medical Board is to
designate counties, communities, or sections of rural areas as
areas needing large animal veterinary services. A veterinary
student meeting certain requirements may enter into a contract
with the board for repayment of educational loans. If the
student agrees to serve 5 years or more in a board designated
area, the board may pay up to $10,000 per year the student
remains in such area. Provisions for failure of the student to
meet contractual obligations are provided in the bill.
