HB 728 -- Relating to Motor Vehicles

Sponsor: McBride

This bill sets the fee for a new or renewed school bus permit at
$11 instead of the present $3. However, if the applicant is at
least 75 years old, the fee will be $3.50.

Any motor vehicle, exclusively utilizing solar power assembled
by a 2 or 4 year institution of higher education and built to
compete in a national competition organized to foster interest
in solar energy must be registered and titled by the Director of
Revenue. The license plate issued will be a collegiate plate of
the institution and will display the term "solar." This vehicle
will be exempt from the inspections requirements and will only
be used on the streets with the approval of the institution of
higher education.

This bill has an emergency clause for the solar powered vehicle
portion of the bill.
