HB 1402 -- Hospital Safety

This bill creates a Hospital Safety Program to handle aggressive
and violent behavior in hospital emergency and trauma centers.
A security plan will be developed to protect personnel,
patients, and visitors from aggressive or violent behavior.
Aggressive or violent behavior will be tracked. Assaults will
be reported to the local law enforcement agency within 72 hours
of an incident. Persons who interfere with such reporting will
be guilty of a class A misdemeanor. Employees assigned to the
emergency department will receive specialized security education
and training. Security training will be provided for members of
the medical staff and all practitioners regularly assigned to
the emergency department. Security training will be given on a
continuous basis for all personnel of the emergency department.
