SB 169, HCA 1 -- NATIONAL GUARD

SPONSOR: Maxwell (Boucher)

COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on Federal- State Relations and Veterans Affairs by a vote of 12 to 0.

Under current law, Missouri citizens meeting federal criteria or who have an honorable discharge from the National Guard are entitled to admission to Missouri Veterans' Homes. This bill clarifies the National Guard as being the Missouri National Guard.

HCA 1 -- Gives preference to members of the Missouri National Guard over members of other state national guards on admission to a Missouri veterans' home.

FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds.

PROPONENTS: Supporters say that this bill will make state and federal laws regarding veterans' homes uniform. The bill will also give preference to Missouri National Guard members.

Testifying for the bill was Senator Maxwell.

OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
