Biography
Representative Melissa Schmidt, a Republican, represents Wright County and parts of Laclede, Webster, and Douglas Counties (District 141) in the Missouri House of Representatives. She was elected to her first two-year term in November 2024.
Rep. Schmidt has a strong background in education and public service. She has spent much of her career in non-for-profit development and program coordination within the community. Additionally, she is a state certified childcare center director with over 30 years of experience working with children and their families in the community in public and private education.
Rep. Schmidt has previously served constituents in the role of Legislative Assistant within the House.
Outside of her legislative duties, Rep. Schmidt is deeply involved in her community. She holds leadership roles within her Cross Creek Church family and is an active member of both Kiwanis and Rotary clubs. She also serves on the Lebanon R-3 Early Childhood Advisory Board, helping to shape the future of early childhood education in her area.
Rep. Schmidt enjoys spending quality time with her husband, Aaron, and their two adult children. Together, they are committed to serving their community and making a positive impact on the lives of others.
