Biography

Representative Jeff Farnan, a Republican, represents Atchison, Gentry, Holt, and Nodaway counties (District 1) in the Missouri House of Representatives. He was elected to his first two-year term in November 2022.

Farnan brings a lifetime of experience rooted in agriculture, public service, and community leadership to his role in the legislature.

In addition to his legislative work, Farnan is a dedicated cattle farmer who understands firsthand the challenges and opportunities facing rural Missouri. Before returning to the farm full-time, he worked as an optician for 35 years, providing quality eye care to local families and building strong ties throughout the community.

Farnan has long been committed to public service. He served as both a member and president of the Jefferson C-123 School Board, where he worked to ensure a strong educational foundation for future generations.

A graduate of South Nodaway High School, Farnan was born and raised in Nodaway County and continues to live near the Conception Abbey with his wife, Joan. Together, they have five sons, two daughters-in-law, and five grandsons.

Grounded in faith, family, and the values of hard work and service, Representative Farnan is honored to serve the people of Northwest Missouri and remains focused on advancing policies that protect agriculture, promote education, support law enforcement, and strengthen rural communities.
