HB 2098 -- Commercial Vehicle Officers

Co-Sponsors: Merideth, Myers, Van Zandt, Britt

This bill vests commercial vehicle officers with full police
powers. As peace officers, commercial vehicle officers may
issue tickets, make arrests, and bear arms, among other things.

The bill directs the Superintendent of the Highway Patrol to
approve a required training program and establish a pay plan and
rank structure for commercial vehicle officers.

The bill also designates a commercial vehicle enforcement fund,
to be paid for from fees collected from the operation of
commercial vehicles in Missouri. Proceeds from the fund are to
pay for training, equipment, and vehicles for commercial vehicle
officers.
