Summary of the Introduced Bill

HB 1611 -- Motor Vehicle Registrations

Sponsor:  Dethrow

This bill requires that beginning July 1, 2005, owners of motor
vehicles will have the option of an annual, biennial, or four-
year registration.  Renewal of four-year registrations will be
every other even-numbered calendar year for vehicles manufactured
in an even-numbered model year and vehicles manufactured in an
odd-numbered model year will be every other odd-numbered calendar
year.  Fees collected at the time of a four-year registration
will include the annual registration fee plus a pro rata amount
for the additional 36 months of the registration.

The bill also requires only one motor vehicle safety inspection
at the time of registration.
