BILL SUMMARIES

TRULY AGREED

SCS HB 1480 -- LOCAL RECORDS PRESERVATION; ST LOUIS RECORDER OF
DEEDS

This bill allows county recorders and the City of St. Louis to
use county record preservation funds toward any grant authorized
by the State Historical Records Advisory Board.

The bill also allows an annual increase in salary for the
Recorder of Deeds for the City of St. Louis.  The increase will
be equal to salary adjustments for other employees as approved
by the board of aldermen.


PERFECTED

This bill allows the county recorder to use county record
preservation funds toward any grant authorized by the State
Historical Records Advisory Board.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds.

on Local Government and Related Matters by a vote of 16 to 0.

This bill allows the county recorder to use county record
preservation funds toward any grant authorized by the State
Historical Records Advisory Board.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that this bill helps preserve county
records.  Counties often do not have matching funds for the
grant programs.

Testifying for the bill were Representative DeMarce; Schuyler
County Recorder of Deeds; Schyuler County Presiding
Commissioner; and the City of St. Louis Recorder of Deeds.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
