Where is Harry S Truman in the Hall of Famous Missourians?
Harry S Truman is one of the most highly regarded U.S. Presidents of our time and one of the most respected statesman in American history. He became our 33rd president upon the death of Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1945.
As chief executive, Truman led the nation through the end of World War II and guided our country through the Korean Conflict. He was also responsible for a major turning point in American policy; creating a set of principles of U.S. inland policy known as The Truman Doctrine. Truman is buried in his beloved town of Independence, Missouri, where thousands of admirers visit his home and presidential library every year. |
