Rep. Bart Korman, a Republican, represents Montgomery County and parts of Warren and St. Charles Counties (District 42) in the Missouri House of Representatives. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2010 and re-elected in 2012.
In addition to his legislative duties, Rep. Korman is a professional land surveyor and professional engineer with Lewis-Bade, Inc. in Warrenton. He is an auctioneer with the family auction business of Korman Auction Service.
In Rep. Korman’s legislative career, he received the Freshman Legislator of the Year Award for his outstanding work in fiscal responsibility and the 2012 Missouri Farm Bureau Friend of Agriculture Award. The National Association of Social Workers, Missouri Chapter gave him the House of Representatives Legislator of the Year in 2013. From the Missouri Society of Professional Surveyors he received their sincere appreciation award.
Rep. Korman is an officer in the Warren County Rotary club and is, or has been, involved with other organizations such as the Missouri Society of Professional Surveyors, the Missouri Association of County Surveyors, the Montgomery City Knights of Columbus, the Montgomery County Fair Agri-land Committee, Farm Bureau, NRA and Immaculate Conception School Board. He is a former president of the Missouri Society of Professional Engineers – Central Chapter and a graduate of the Montgomery County EXCEL Leadership Program.
Rep. Korman is a 1994 graduate of Montgomery County R-2 High School. He graduated from the University of Missouri in 1999 with a B.S. in Agricultural Engineering and a B.S. in Agricultural Systems Management. That same year, he also graduated from the Missouri Auction School.
Rep. Korman was born December 20, 1975 in Hermann. He is married to Sarah (Young) Korman. They have two sons, Wyatt and Grant. They attend Immaculate Conception Church in Montgomery City.
Extends the termination date of certain natural resources funds and fees.
Requires a deed conveying real estate to contain certain information
Authorizes the General Assembly to remove any department director or deputy director if it determines that the removal is necessary for the betterment of public service
Changes the law regarding taxation so that the top income tax rate is reduced over several years and the motor fuel tax is increased by a proportional amount to be revenue neutral
Changes the law regarding motor fuel fees
Changes the law regarding taxation to modify sales and use tax definitions and to increase the motor fuel tax by seventeen cents
Changes the laws regarding the highway patrol so that it is funded under the general revenue
Allows the department of transportation to sell naming rights for highways and bridges not already named
Authorizes the Department of Transportation to set fees for drivers' licenses and license plates
Creates the Emergency Bridge Repair and Replacement Fund
Changes the laws regarding sales and use tax so that a percentage of revenue collected is dedicated to the state road fund
Modifies provisions relating to electrical energy.
Changes the laws regarding consumer products so that certain individuals and businesses have a right to repair information from certain manufacturers
Modifies provisions relating to the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Initiative
Authorizes the Missouri Gaming Commission to establish standards and procedures for sports wagering in the state of Missouri
Changes the laws regarding rates charged by health care providers
Authorizes a sales tax holiday for products made in the USA
Modifies provisions for construction of new facilities by utility companies.
Allows a property owner to present evidence and argue the value of the future use of the property to be taken in a condemnation proceeding
Decreases the fine for failure to wear protective headgear while operating or riding as a passenger on a motorcycle or motortricycle
Allows the department of transportation to, by rule, adjust certain transportation fees by the percentage of inflationary increase or decrease.
Establishes a "miles driven" fee to be paid at the time of registration of a motor vehicle with a model year of 2020 and later
Establishes the I-70 Regional Transportation District
Changes the law regarding motor vehicle decal fees
Requires that the Department of Transportation utility corridor be 12 feet wide with the location determined by the State Highways and Transportation Commission
Increases the time a motor vehicle owner is allowed between having a motor vehicle inspected and registering the vehicle for certain vehicles purchased from a dealer
Modifies provisions of law relating to emergency medical services
Requires state departments report to the appropriation committees of the House and Senate any change in their revenues or expenditures resulting from a change in policy
Establishes a miles per gallon-based vehicle registration fee
Allows state funds to be expended on recreational and rest areas to ensure compliance with certain federal regulations
Doubles the current driver's license fees and adds an administrative fee
Prohibits the publishing of names of Missouri residents who are lottery winners if the value of the prize is greater than five million dollars
Creates various funds dedicated to transportation
Allows the highways and transportation commission to issue bonds or other indebtedness to finance or refinance the construction or reconstruction of the state highway system
Modifies the powers of the Board of Adjustment
Changes the laws regarding annexation procedures
Modifies provisions relating to the powers and duties of the Emergency Services Board
Modifies provisions for the state merit system.
Proposes a constitutional amendment to authorize a four-tenths percent sales and use tax whose revenues will be dedicated to the certain law enforcement funds
Proposes a constitutional amendment prohibiting toll roads and toll facilities in the state
