COMMITTEE
HB 1153 -- JUVENILE PER DIEM
SPONSOR: Troupe
COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Civil and
Administrative Law by a vote of 15 to 1.
This bill increases the minimum per diem paid by the state to
counties for the care and maintenance of juveniles from $14 to
$20 per day.
FISCAL NOTE: Total Estimated Net Cost to General Revenue Fund
of $673,378 to $3,831,134 in FY 2001, $823,467 to $3,946,068 in
FY 2002, and $835,819 to $4,064,450 in FY 2003.
PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the counties are bearing much
of the financial burden of housing these juveniles and need the
minimum maintenance amount from the state increased to cover
their increased costs.
Testifying for the bill was Representative Troupe.
OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
