HB 1261 -- Deductions for State School Aid Overpayments
Co-Sponsors: Kissell, Dolan, Ostmann, Gross
Currently, a school district that has overestimated its pupil
count and received state aid to which it is not entitled has the
following school year in which to repay the overage. This bill
provides an alternative for any district that has run a year--
round school calendar for at least 5 years before the discovery
of the error and has been paid more than 5% over the amount to
which it was entitled. Such districts may apply in writing to
the State Board of Education to repay the overage, with
interest, within 60 months.
The bill has an emergency clause.
