HB 1384 -- Discrimination Lawsuits
Sponsor: Bray
This bill allows either party in a discrimination case to
request a jury trial upon the completion of administrative
processing of the complaint by the Missouri Commission on Human
Rights. When such cases result in a nonsuit (that is,
termination of a suit without an adjudication on the merits),
the plaintiff may commence a new action within one year. The
bill also requires the commission to notify the complainant when
the commission has terminated its administrative processing of
any complaint involving unlawful employment practices or
discrimination in public accommodations.
