HB 1391 -- BUILDING REGULATIONS SPONSOR: Kreider COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Local Government and Related Matters by a vote of 15 to 4. This bill allows the county commission in counties with an assessed valuation at or above the level necessary to become a county of the first or second classification which have not yet changed classification to adopt building regulations by ordinance. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that this bill will allow fast growing counties, such as Christian County, to establish building codes. Building codes will be required in a couple of years because of the current growth. Testifying for the bill was Representative Kreider. OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
