HB 1408 -- Reciprocal Certification of Teachers

This bill requires the State Board of Education to establish
reciprocal approval of teacher training institutions in adjacent
states.  The bill adds provisions for applicants with a license
from an adjacent state to be issued a Missouri certificate that
most closely aligns with the certificate already held, based on
the applicant's recommendation by a state-approved or
reciprocally-approved teacher preparation program, completion of
a background check, and, if a national or regional reciprocity
system has been recommended by the Missouri Advisory Council of
Certification for Educators and adopted by the State Board of
Education, recommendation by such system.
