HB 1532 -- Blue Ribbon Program for Safe Schools
Co-Sponsors: Patek, Gross, Scott, Chrismer, Hendrickson, Summers
This bill establishes a "Safe Schools Blue Ribbon Award," which
the Governor may award to any of the top 20 schools in the state
based on facilities and safety criteria, quality of crime
prevention, drug prevention and similar programs, and number of
crimes committed on school property, with criteria to be
developed by the Department of Elementary and Secondary
Education by July 1, 2001. The State Board of Education must
issue a report each year that identifies the school districts
that attain the lowest scores on the award criteria and issue
recommendations for safety improvements.
