HB 1584 -- Health Care Coverage for Certain Former Public
Officials

This bill removes judges from the list of retired employees and
officials and their surviving spouses who are special
consultants receiving an amount contributed towards medical
benefit coverage.  The bill clarifies that administrative judges
and their surviving spouses remain as special consultants.  The
bill adds provisions to make special consultants of retired
statewide elected officials, members of the General Assembly,
and judges, who are Medicare-eligible and are or become members
of the Missouri Consolidated Health Care Plan or an alternative
program.  The benefit for such special consultants will be
medical coverage benefits coordinated with Medicare benefits or
a reduced amount to provide a benefit equivalent to the amount
of coordinated benefits for those not covered by Medicare.
