HB 1593 -- State Employee Health Insurance

This bill changes the requirements for state employees to
continue their health care benefits upon leaving state
employment. Current law requires a state employee who is
entitled to an annuity, retirement benefit, or disability
benefit (including benefits for the employee's spouse or
unemancipated children) to have been covered for the 2 years
prior to the date of death or disability of the employee. This
bill reduces that coverage period requirement from 2 years to 6
months.
