COMMITTEE
HB 1712 -- REGIONAL CHILD ASSESSMENT CENTERS
CO-SPONSORS: McKenna, Wagner, Overschmidt, Hollingsworth, Abel,
Selby
COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Children,
Youth and Families by a vote of 19 to 0.
This bill adds the Jefferson County Child Assessment Center to
the list of regional child assessment centers funded by the
Department of Social Services.
FISCAL NOTE: Estimated Cost to General Revenue Fund of $208,250
in FY 2001, $250,000 in FY 2002, and $250,000 in FY 2003.
PROPONENTS: Supporters say that this assessment center is
needed in Jefferson County because the St. Louis city and county
assessment centers already handle too many cases and cannot take
any more. It will serve at least 5 other counties besides
Jefferson County.
Testifying for the bill were Representative McKenna; and
Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.
OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
