HB 1822 -- Registered Offenders Involved with Children's Sports

Co-Sponsors: Scott, Gross

This bill makes it a class A misdemeanor for persons who are
required to register as sex offenders to serve as coach or
referee to a sports team with members less than 18 years old.
The bill also requires persons employing coaches and referees
for children's sports teams to examine the list of registrants
to determine if any of the applicants are convicted offenders.
Failure to do this or knowingly hiring or appointing a
registered offender is a class A misdemeanor.
