INTRODUCED

HB 2017 -- Predatory Sexual Offenders

Sponsor:  Smith

This bill includes sexual assault, deviate sexual assault, child
molestation, and sexual abuse in the crimes that can be
considered toward a determination of whether a person is a
predatory sexual offender.  Currently, only previous convictions
of forcible rape, rape, statutory rape in the first degree,
forcible sodomy, sodomy, statutory sodomy in the first degree,
and certain classes of child molestation and sexual abuse can be
considered.

The minimum number of years that must be served by predatory
sexual offenders who have previously been convicted of sexual
assault, deviate sexual assault, child molestation, sexual
abuse, or attempt of any of these crimes is 15 years.
