HB 2047 -- Nursing

This bill contains provisions relating to the practice of
nursing. The bill:
(1) Revises the definition of "advanced practice nurse,"
stating that they are registered professional nurses recognized
by the State Board of Nursing to use the title and engage in the
practice of advanced practice nursing;
(2) Adds the term "lapsed license status" to the definition
section on nursing;
(3) Requires applicants for licensure as advanced practice
nurses to provide the board with their clinical nursing
specialties and the roles in which they are certified by a
nationally recognized certifying body;
(4) Requires applicants for advanced practice nursing licenses
which have no specialty areas or role certifications to submit
evidence of their education, training, and experience;
(5) Allows the State Board of Nursing to promulgate rules
specifying the criteria by which national certifying bodies are
recognized;
(6) Requires the board to elect a vice president and requires
the secretary of the board to carry out the duties of the
treasurer;
(7) Establishes reciprocity with Canada; and
(8) Requires all persons using the titles of "registered nurse"
or "licensed practical nurse" to be duly licensed by the State
Board of Nursing.
