HB 2079 -- Landscape Architects
Sponsor: Treadway
This bill makes provisions for the licensing of landscape
architects with the Division of Professional Registration.
Currently, landscape architects are registered with the division.
The bill revises the definitions of "landscape architects" and
the "practice of landscape architecture." Individuals are
qualified to practice landscape architecture if they have been
duly licensed by the Landscape Architecture Council on the basis
of education, examination, and experience. After meeting the
requirements of the Landscape Architecture Council, individuals
may make application with the Division of Professional
Registration for licensure.
The bill also prohibits any person from holding out as a
landscape architect without being duly licensed. It does not
prohibit persons working in the landscape, nursery, or gardening
industry from engaging in their occupations as long as the
project scope does not jeopardize the public health.
The bill waives the licensure requirement for those individuals
currently registered with the Division of Professional
Registration on or before August 28, 2000.
