HB 2083 -- Health Insurance
Co-Sponsors: Scheve, Days, Barry, Fraser, Boykins
This bill requires health insurers to provide coverage for (1)
annual gynecological exams, as well as necessary follow-up care
within 90 days, without referral from a primary care physician;
(2) medically necessary hormone replacement therapy; and (3)
prescription contraceptive methods, when the insurer provides
coverage for outpatient prescription drugs. Religious employers
and employees may be issued policies excluding prescription
contraceptive methods when such methods are contrary to their
religious beliefs. Alternatively, health insurers owned or
operated by such a religious employer may provide contraceptive
coverage through a separate limited benefit plan.
