HB 2137 -- Missouri Domestic Violence Commission

This bill establishes the Missouri Domestic Violence Commission
within the Department of Public Safety to study solutions for
domestic violence. The commission will be comprised of 15
members: one juvenile court judge; one family court judge; 9
members of the general public, with one from each congressional
district and no more than 5 affiliated with the same political
party; 2 members of the House of Representatives, one from each
political party; and 2 members of the Senate, one from each
political party. The commission must meet no less than once
every 2 months. Other duties and responsibilities of the
commission are detailed in the bill. The bill also requires the
commission and the department, beginning in 2001, to establish
and administer up to 20 domestic violence prevention,
intervention, and rehabilitation pilot projects for certain
enumerated purposes.
