AN ACT

To amend chapter 182, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to public libraries.



Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the state of Missouri, as follows:

Section A. Chapter 182, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto one new section, to be known as section 182.825, to read as follows:

182.825. 1. The board of a public library that offers Internet access to library patrons shall:

(1) Adopt a written policy identifying Internet sites or types of Internet sites that may not be accessed by library patrons who are using library software to access the Internet;

(2) Install and maintain functioning filtering software on computers located in the public library to block access by library patrons to Internet sites identified by the policy adopted pursuant to subdivision (1) of this subsection; and

(3) Ensure that adult library patrons are, upon request, provided access to filtered Internet sites, which shall be made available to the adult patron in a location where the information cannot be readily accessed by, displayed or reproduced to a minor.

2. Any library that receives public funds shall comply with the requirements of subsection 1 of this section.
