AN ACT

To amend chapter 452, RSMo, relating to dissolution of marriage by adding thereto one new section relating to child visitation.



Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the state of Missouri, as follows:

Section A. Chapter 452, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto one new section, to be known as section 452.398, to read as follows:

452.398. The court shall not award visitation to any parent who has not had any meaningful contact with his or her child in the last thirty-six consecutive months, except for good cause shown. For purposes of this section, "meaningful contact" means contact of a type, duration and consistency which is necessary to foster a relationship between the parent and child.
