To amend chapter 487, RSMo, relating to family courts by adding thereto one new section relating to the retention of family court commissioners and judges.
Section A. Chapter 487, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto one new section, to be known as section 487.025, to read as follows:
487.025. 1. Each family court judge and commissioner shall be placed on the ballot at every presidential election to be retained as family court judge or commissioner.
2. The ballot shall read as follows:
"Shall (Judge or Commissioner) ........... of the (title of court) ........... be retained as the Family Court (Judge or Commissioner)?".
3. If a majority of those voting on the question vote against retaining the judge or commissioner, the judge or commissioner shall be removed from the family court on December thirty-first following such election.
4. No sitting judge shall be removed from office pursuant to this subsection but such judge shall not be eligible to be
designated as family court judge pursuant to section 487.010.
